Israel government proposes unprecedented restrictions on food industry mergers

The Israeli government recently put forward a legislative proposal aimed at “reducing concentration and increasing competition” in the food and consumer goods markets.

In the past decade, the government has taken several key initiatives to achieve the same end. The most notable of these measures was the enactment of the Law for the Promotion of Competition in the Food Sector 2014.
